Welcome to 2016-17 MUSIC CLASS!
I am looking forward to another great year in Music class at every level. All grades will be singing, playing instruments and listening to all genres of music.
I am also excited about the ALL MUSIC ROOM we have now. Mrs. Maslach and I are now sharing a room. On Mondays the band students will meet in the room. We have a lot more room now with everything Music!
We will once again be performing a Christmas Concert and a Spring Concert in our church this year. They are fun for both myself and the students. We have a lot of talented students who love to perform!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Again, I am looking forward to working with the students and discovering new and exciting music. My hope is to inspire and teach the gift of Music that God has given to each and every one of us.
Summer is here and we had a great year! We learned so much this year and had fun doing it. The Spring Concert was wonderful and everyone sang so well! DVD’s will be available in 6 to 8 weeks. You should have received an order form at the end of the year.
I am looking forward to another great year in the fall with lots of new music! Enjoy your summer and I’ll see you in the fall. Have a blessed and safe vacation!
Spring is approaching and so is the Spring Concert!!!
During the winter months all classes have been learning about the fundamentals of music and exploring our creativity. Junior High has been working on reports of Musical Instrument Families, Favorite Artists, and Music Genres. The 4th grade has been learning the recorder and 5th grade has been exploring advanced rhythms, Classical composers and modes of music. The lower grades have also been exploring rhythms and learning music from Winter fun, Black History, Valentines Day and Irish music.
Thursday mornings have been special with the addition of Praise Songs we have learned.
The Spring Concert will be on May 24th at 7:00pm so hold the date!
Have a Blessed Easter!
It’s that time of year! Where did the time go?
It’s Christmas time and our school concert is right around the corner. The children have been working very hard and are excited to perform for everyone. Our concert will be held on December 15th at 7:00pm in the parish church. The entire school will be singing a collection of traditional and non-traditional Christmas music. You don’t want to miss this annual performance and I’m sure it will put us all in the true spirit of the season.
The Kindergarten and 1st grade will combine their efforts with a manger scene. The 2nd and 3rd grades will also sing together as will the 4th and 5th grades. The middle school will finish with their selections followed by a wonderful finale from the entire school. Please join us this Advent in preparing for Jesus’s birthday with the gift of music!
Junior High has been learning new Praise songs that we sing on Thursday mornings. They are actually singing and they sound good! We’ve been exploring music and it’s use in advertising and motion pictures. The students made their own radio commercials by picking a product, writing an advertisement, and finding the perfect background music. The students presented their commercial first without music, then with the music. They discovered the impact music has as it enhanced their commercials. The students are presently writing trailers for movies they have created and are using 3 separate musical examples to enhance the scenes they have written. Again we will view the scenes first without music. They are in the filming stages and I can’t wait to see “Joe Busters”!
The middle grades are learning musical notation and realizing that music is another language. The middle grades have had a chance to use some of the new instruments that were purchased for this year. The students are singing well and we’ve been able to sing together on Thursday mornings with the whole student body. We are singing praise songs which start our day off right! The students are also looking forward to Halloween and Christmas Music.
