  2. Practice good sportsmanship 5 pts.
  3. Participate to best of your ability 5 pts.
  4. Respect equipment, classmates, teacher 5 pts.

Each time your child comes to Physical Education they can earn up to 25 points. In addition to the daily 25 points your child can earn, there may be written quizzes, small projects, skill evaluation, and self evaluation. If a student forgets their gym clothes they will lose 5 points but will be given a written assignment which will be worth 20 points. That assignment will be done during their class time. It will be graded and these points will be given to your child for that day.

G is for Gym! Kindergarten,1st & 2nd & 3rd Grade

In order to provide a more effective learning environment for Physical Education (PE), the following discipline plan is in effect at all times.

The rules for PE will be:

  • No talking when the teacher is talking or explaining.
  • Listen to directions the first time they are given.
  • Play by the rules, play safely.
  • Be respectful to other students and to school property.
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

If a student breaks a rule:

  • 1st time: verbal warning by teacher.
  • 2nd time: sit out of activity for a few minutes, i.e. Penalty box; if no gym shoes, they will sit out the entire period.
  • 3rd time: broken rule note written up and sent home for parent signature.
  • 4th time: trip to the office to speak with the principal & phone call to parents.

For the students who follow gym rules, the following reinforcement will be provided:

  • Positive comments
  • Award certificates
  • Stickers
  • Free game days-children vote on activity of their choice for one gym period.
  • Positive certificates -Toe Token award to be worn by receiving student(s).

SHOES

Students in Kindergarten, 1st , 2nd & 3rd grade have gym once a week. They need to wear gym shoes on that day. Gym shoes are: tennis shoes, basketball shoes, Keds (a shoe they can run in comfortably and also move side to side without risk of injury). Shoes MUST have the students’ heel covered completely. Please note: loafers, boots, dress shoes and crocks are not considered gym shoes.

All students need to wear gym uniforms (refer to school handbook for policy).

GRADES
