The goal of QUEST is to help students reach beyond their normal learning environment in Language Arts and to encourage them to learn, to serve and to lead. The projects/lessons are built with an accelerated learning curriculum, which will challenge students and enrich their minds.
QUEST begins in grade 2 and goes through grade 8. Students meet once a week for 45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on the grade level. Most projects are completed during class time. Students are responsible for making up any classroom work missed, which is minimal. The students in grades 5-8 come to QUEST during a study hall time.
Weekly activities may include:
- Prayer, Bible Quote
- Challenges (Stories with Holes, Riddles, Puzzles)
- Various Projects by grade level.
- Novels: Classes are assigned novels that coordinate with the time of year or an upcoming field trip. These books are provided and most of the book is read in class. If homework is assigned it is minimal.
- Newspapers in Education: This curriculum is provided by the Elyria Chronicle Telegram and includes:
- The Stock Market Game (grades 4-8) From October to December
- Design-an-Ad (all grades) January/February
- Write-an-Editorial (grades 4-8) January/February
