Sports Signup
CYO Fall sporting season sign-ups will be held Wednesday May 23rd in the school gym from 6-9 pm. The following sports will have registration: New this year – Flag Football for boys and girls in grades 1 through 3. New this year – Cheerleading for girls in grades 4-8. Tackle Football for boys in grades 4-8. Volleyball for girls in grades 4-8.
Fees will be as follows: Flag football $75; football for grades 4-8 $120; Volleyball $105 (new this year, you keep the uniforms); Cheerleading $75. Checks should be payable to St Joseph Athletic Association. Financial assistance is available through personal meeting with Fr. Martello – contact the parish office at 988-2848 to set up an appointment.
Anyone with equipment or uniforms from any St Joseph Amherst CYO team…football, basketball or volleyball, from any previous seasons…..please return those to either the church office, school office or to Diane Syrowski at 750 Cleveland Ave (south side of street, top of St Joseph hill). Items can be left the at the back door or garage, please do so at your earliest convenience. If you need my assistance, please contact me by return email, phone or text 440-522-2491. Thank you!!!
Bring Back Books
The School Library will be closing the week of May 21. All library books must be returned on or before your student’s library day that week. All overdue fines must be paid off, and all lost books must be paid for. The library will be closed from Memorial Day on so that we may take inventory and track down missing books.
Outdoor Fun
SJS Students Will enjoy a morning of sun and sports on Field Day 2012 on Tuesday May 22 (Rain Date is Wednesday May 23). If you can help out with setting up and running games or serving and supervising lunch, please contact the Parent Club to volunteer.
Dine & Donate
Ziggy’s Pub &Restaurant in downtown Amherst is donating 15% of patrons’ checks when you dine out on May 15. Be sure to mention you are from St. Joe’s!
Art on the Road
45 of our SJS students have artwork displayed at the Amherst Public Library. Stop in and see the display of their talent until May 20.
25 Years
Congratulations to Mrs. Diane Yale-Peabody on receive her 25-year pin from the Diocese of Cleveland as a Catholic teacher. Mrs. Peabody received her pin at Mass on April 25 and was noted for her work as a volunteer, as a librarian, as a fund-raiser, as a computer teacher, as a Parish Gardener, as a public relations liason to the local newspapers, and as editor of the parish newsletter On The Level.
