Kindergarten LOVES Circle songs and games!!
“Hey there Friend” is one of our favorites!
The fifth grade and I learned some basic African dance steps using a Kennedy Center for the Arts tutorial online, after we completed our African Music Unit!!
Who knew we’d be SO good at this 🙂
7th Grade tried their music reading skills and BoomWhacker techniques while playing “AFRICA” BY TOTO.
My amazing second graders are learning about listening maps and LOVED this version on “Hall of the Mountain King” by Greig where we got to show with movement how the music sounds!
First graders are singing ” Down by the Bay” learning about Call and Response. I added a singing circle game where they had to make up the last line of the song and then get a turn around the circle!!!
Third graders are COMPOSERS!!! They learned about B-A-G on the music staff and then had to write and read and PLAY their own melody!
WOW THIRD GRADE!!
After months of preparing for our Christmas Concert, the kids once again were amazing and truly made us all feel the spirit of Christmas. The 7th and 8th graders performed their Sticks number to Lauren Daigle’s ” NOEL” and it was absolutely moving.
So now we’re back to music class….. this week the third graders are returning to review Note Names and basic rhythm composing.
We have been working on preparing our Christmas concert
which is planned for
FRIDAY DECEMBER 20th at 7pm
in St. Joseph Social Hall.
This concert will include all children in grades K-8 and is
one of my favorite concerts of the year.
Please join us!!!
On Flex Friday, the 4th grade and I made Harmonicas using popsicle sticks, straws and rubber bands!
2nd grade finally got their hands on our XYLOPHONES!! They took turns creating different rhythms we learned using Quarter notes, Eighth notes and Half notes!!!
🙂 WOO-HOO SECOND GRADE! 🙂
1st GRADE IS READING RHYTHMS!!
I LOVE USING TECHNOLOGY TO TEACH MUSIC!
AND THE KIDS LOVE IT TOO!!
FIRST GRADE IS WORKING TO DISCOVER QUARTER NOTES AND EIGHTH NOTES IN A SONG!
AFTER LEARNING ABOUT MUSIC AND CULTURE FROM LATIN AMERICA WE DID SOME SALSA DANCING!!!
I LOVE WHEN KIDS EXPRESS AN INTEREST IN SHARING THEIR MUSIC WITH THEIR CLASS! RYAN SHOWS US WHAT HE’S BEEN LEARNING IN GUITAR LESSONS! AND A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CLASS TO LEARN HOW TO BE A GREAT AUDIENCE!!!

THIS SUMMER YOU SHOULD MAKE A SUMMER PLAYLIST!
IT’S ALWAYS GREAT TO FIND NEW TUNES TO INSPIRE YOU!!!
Here’s some tips on making a great playlist!
1.Find new songs by your favorite artists!
2. Use Spotify’s recommended artists feature!
3. Ask friends for suggestions!
4. Don’t add songs that are currently on the radio.
5. Make sure your playlist has a perfect mix of fast and slow songs!
6. Add songs that you wouldn’t normally listen to!
7. Use 8tracks or Spotify to make your playlist!
8. Make your playlist at least an hour and a half long!
9. Share your masterpiece with me when you come back to school!!!
SEE YOU ALL IN THE
2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR!!!!!
